Ecovadis has a global network of more than 90,000 assessed companies. The methodology includes seven management indicators, spread across 21 sustainability criteria, in four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The methodology is based on leading standards, such as GRI, UNGC and ISO 26000, and is overseen by an international scientific committee.
Within the Oerlemans Packaging Group we have worked hard in recent years with all companies to further map and formalize our sustainability. For example, we already have ISO 26000 since 2015 and ISO 14001 including CO2 reduction management since 2020. Oerlemans Plastics even has an ISO 14001 certificate since 2007. Fardem and Oerlemans Plastics were already working with Ecovadis and already had a local certificate.
Ecovadis is valuable to our customers and suppliers
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important. With the Ecovadis system, scores are transparent to customers and suppliers – allowing them to see where strengths and weaknesses lie on sustainability criteria – and action plans are created. Because Ecovadis has a broad approach, including procurement, labor & human rights and environment, this is an external certification that we as Oerlemans Packaging Group embrace and that is increasingly required
Passing the audit successfully requires a lot of work. Ecovadis assesses performance by evaluating a company’s policies, actions and results in detail. This requires the delivery of a complete file of more than 200 documents, amounting to more than 1,000 pages. We are therefore satisfied with the result obtained..
Dashboard & plan of action
The dashboard clearly indicates where our strengths are. For example, we score very well on Environment, with a strong sustainability policy, our innovations and our focus on continuous improvement. We are busy setting up the action plan to achieve gold certification as a group next year. After all, we want to score in the top 5% of all companies in the Ecovadis database! The action plan is completely in line with the sustainability ambitions we have as “the sustainable innovator”.
